Dostana, Music Review

First of all, Vishal and Shekhar did music for Dostana. Happy ? I know you are. That is the kind of confidence that we have on the magical duo, Vishal Shekhar. We expect a lovely melody and a stunning dance number from them, from their movies and they always live up to that expectation. Dostana, is no different. It has a stunning tune. Desi Girl, and some lovely melodies.

Desi Girl

This is a pure dance number and it is going to be “love at first sight” when you listen to it. Is it going to survive, as more than just a dance number ? Well, I don’t think so, its purely a dance number, a fast trendy tune, and it will be popular for relatively longer time period, but still, we will forget this tune too, at least for some more time .. Singers, Shankar Mahadevan and Sunidhi .. now, that’s a lovely team. brilliant choice.

Khabar Nahi

This one is by Shreya Ghoshal, it captures attraction at the very first beat of the song. This one is worth listening to, a few hundred times … and you will feel like listening to it again and again … is the the tune ? the blend of instrumentals or the Shreya Ghoshal touch that makes it romantic ? well, I am not sure. Whatever the reason be, this one is really good. Something that I did not like about this song, is that, Shreya’s part got cut short, I felt,

Jaane Kyun

Here is Vishal Dadlani as singer, how is he ? well, “BRILLIANT”, I should say. Confident singing, ( yea, and he is saying “I’ll be alright” of course !! ) that’s the first thing that you notice in this song.

Tune ? I felt this more attractive than “Desi Girl” one. What about you ? It will be interesting to compare these two tunes and see which one sounds better, do it, and drop me a comment .. ok ?

Kuch Kum

Yes, noting is complete without Shaan’s voice. So, here is a sweet melody, from Shaan, Kuch Kum. Listen to it a few times, you will love it. Now, compare this one with Shreya’s song, Jaane Kyun will be interesting, I swear !!

Shut up and Bounce

Sunidhi, with another fast number, not satisfactory, I would say, still, worth listening to, 1 or two times, maximum, not more than that !! There is another song by  Maa Da Laadla, by Saleem ( new singer ? anyone ? ) which is worse than shut up and bounce …  better stay away from it .. ok ?

Okay guys, what is your opinion about this movie and its songs ? I loved the music, especially fast numbers and Shreya’s and Shaan’s melodies. What about you ?
